I finally got a job and it is taking a lot of my time, I hardly have time to go code or do much atm as I am filled up with coursework and time at work.
I feel that I can still work on the site on the weekend but I can’t promise anything. Hopefully I get something sorted out soon.
I am about to receive my pre-order of bf2142, and there are stories coming up on the internet about spyware being implemented and I don’t think it is a spyware but more of bullshit from the critiques mouth!
Just to clear things up Spyware means: “Any software that covertly gathers user information through the user’s Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. Spyware applications are typically bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware programs that can be downloaded from the Internet. Once installed, the spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. …” EA gives a notice of it being used and therefore it should not be classified as spyware.
What a great day for me! I have completed all and the most basic features of the site. They are the fundamental system of the checkout system. The only part that is missing is the moderation system of the checkouts, where staff can manually add/remove customer to XX products, extend account expiration, etc…
After that is done I am going to go over all the pages to fix security and improve features, while maintaining XHTML compability. When all is finish I will finish off the portal/main page.
From the speed I am working at I can predict that I could be finishing the project within 2-4 weeks and be ready to start selling within 1-2 weeks after code completion.
On icelabz I have recently finished the members area, with a good and simple download system. The scripting was a bit confusing and I had to research a bit on how to spoof downloads without revealing the exact urlofo the files.
Now that it is done I hope by next week I have completed the ticketing system and started on a staff area (moderator’s area) where hopefully the moderators can manage the support tickets and reply to them and get notified by mail.
And hopefully after that I should start fixing up the design of the site, change the colors, html, add security and features to make it more scalable and user-friendly.
I believe at the rate I am coding I may be able to release icelabz before 2007 and release a few skins 
but like I said before I am not going to promise anything.
A forums ethics (belief) & aims are very important to first time visitors aswell as current members. Providing your aims and statement tells the user exactly what the site stand for and what are it’s aim. I find it very useful when I first visit a site, because sometimes I just see a forum and a lot of post but I really don’t know what the site is about until I join in on some of the discussion and most of the time I don’t bother joining or reading on.
