Minerva progress 17th June 2007

Pretty bad day today, I didn’t get much time to work on Minerva SEO, as the FURL is really getting hard to play around with especially with registration form ad is really slowing down other features.

So from now on, I am approaching seo on ipb without the FURL until that is really stable. Meaning from now on any release I do will have furl turned off until it is stable enough to be used.

sorry no release today :( too many bugs

Well I haven’t worked on anything else apart from the login and registration page. I have got most of the urls sorted for both of them but the registration page has some errors when generating the security images. I will look at those tomorrow morning but for now I am just testing out the features like login in.

I know it’s been a short progress today but I am trying my best to get things sorted out without any errors.

Today I have been working a lot on the broken url handler. Mostly on calendar, members page and login. It is quite complicated to play around with as you need to know your limits on both .htaccess and php. As you can save a few queries with any of them depending on the circumstance.

Minerva SEO daily development log 13/06/07

Wow 33 bugs & features to process to make it running with the most functional features.

That is a lot of work, I do not think I’ll be able to work most of them, so I have decided to aim on getting the sitemap feature in there after I fixed a few FURL bugs like dupe content with canonical urls.

For those  who have missed my todo list check this link to my minerva tadalist.

I think I may start writing a custom page handler and replace most of the index.php or something similar so that there is no dupe content. The one thing that slows me down atm is the mod_rewrite regex and conditions. I think after a few skimming through some articles on mod_rewrite I got the handle on conditional rewriting but I still need to perfect it and understand what is going on. Most of the rewrite cond I was using before was just trial and errors. Hopefully that now I know a jift of it I may get it to work in less time.

If anyone found a good tutorial or article about mod_rewrite, please post it up here to enlighten me.

Thanks

I am not re-distributing minerva on other IPB modification portal

I am not going to re-distribute Minerva on other IPB modification portal as they do not allow flexible license agreement.

Unless they do allow users to edit a license agreement then I may consider it or else the only way to get the package is through minerva seo’s website. Another reason is that some of the license they offer to us submitters is a bit strict. For example on IPSbeyond it seems that from what they are saying, that they will have a permanent distribution rights. This may seem unclear but I feel that they may benefit more than I do.

All work submitted to IPS is understood to carry a permanent distribution agreement granted to IPS until such time IPS may choose to remove work from distribution
