For a few weeks/ days I have been working on a custom skin for a client of mine. Bascially he wanted to have a website where he can add/edit/delete hotel information on whatever category he wanted to have. And he needed this site up and running within a few weeks. So I decided to launch myself into Wordpress after I read on .net mag that it could be turned into a CMS.

And I did turn it into a simple CMS just for hotel listing…well not specific to hotel listing but close enough to make it meet the clients request.

Here is a quick run down on the steps I perform to get to what I have at the moment (not yet finished). Once I get some decent qualiy time I will write a brief tutorial on how to do it.
First I design a central design and CSS to be run on all pages of the site. I chose a nice green and blue for the theme and a few other colors to make it look nice and calm.

Then I started off by making my first index.php in the wp-content/xx/ and then added a few php to replenish it in information such page title, category list, etc…

I kept referring back to this really important list of most used functions on Wordpress.

After that I added a few more pages such as single.php (for the entry), category.php (category listing), header (make it a centralised header) and footer.php (centralised footer). Then I got this basic framework to work on. Now I just need to brush up the design, add a few stock photos that he gave me and make a simple gallery system for him.

Here a few recent screen shot, please be reminded that it is not finished:
