Update on IPB 3 and IPBSEO module

After weeks of development I can say that I might be able to release a BETA not ALPHA (feature acceptance) as most of the features I wanted is on there. The only thing that is left to be done is the FURL for IP.Blogs, IP.Downloads & IP.Gallery and maybe an htaccess editor, but I think its unnecessary as what you are going to see with the new IPB is that it is supermely smart and powerful.

Truely this has been the best experience in IPB development I have ever had. IPB 3.x.x realy took it to another level, and with the books I have been reading I was able to produce schematics, processes & diagrams which helped me organise and complete IPBSEO for IPB 3.0.x very fast.

Progress on IPBSEO for invision power board 3.x.x

Today I have started development for IPBSEO for IPB 3.x.x

I must say development is much faster than on IPB 2.x.x, I was able to add meta data to most pages without any page edits (except for bugs I found within ipb; yes i have submitted the fix for that). A demo might be available within 1-3 weeks with the following features:

  • meta data for most core pages:
    • profile
    • topics
    • forums
  • Furl improvements
    • stop words
    • using MSEO standard furl format (seo_settings)
  • Similar topics
  • trackback

Slowly cleaning up Mseo

For the past 2-4 days I have been cleaning up Mseo and fixing a lot of bugs.
I have also started to write a very detailed documentation of MinervaSEO which will be updated every time there is a new feature, or bug that arises. It can be found at http://icelabz.net/wiki/

I am planning on hopefully releasing a final release on Saturday.

The logs will be the following:

  • Improved documentation
  • Improved error handling
  • Addition of a few options for bots
  • Addition of canonical link in META
  • Title html entities fix
  • Meta tags fix
  • Redirect fix
  • Error 404 handling fix
  • New Feature

After that I will try to complete the conversion from IPB 2.x.x. to IPB 3.x.x. and it should  be ready next week or somet time later.

MinervaSEO 0.4.1 and 1.0.0 Beta 3

While browsing a few referal links through my mint stats application, I noticed that some people are running BOTH MSEO 0.4.1 and 1.0.0 Beta 3. Which is troubling me quite a lot that it makes me realise that I need to include an uninstaller for MSEO 0.4.1 asap WITHIN MSEO 1.0.0.

Even though I wrote in the instruction html file that you need to remove the old edits, it seems that a lot of people are finding it hard to read my documentation. :( Well…. I am partly to blame as I didn’t have enough time focusing on the documentation of the application.

First impression on converting MSEO (IPBSEO) to Invision Power Board 3

Moderately easy, I have been playing around with the sytem for around 3-4 hours today and I was pretty impressed with the application folder system. It is quite nifty and powerful. The installation system and development tools are a true helper while importing the settings.

So far I have been able to get the acronymiser and secure redirects working with only 2 file edits. This means good news and I could get a working version within the first or second week of June.

Progress on sitemap and IPBseo

For the past few days/weeks I have worked quite hard on a stable version of MinervaSEO and the sitemap and I think I will go back to my hiding hole and continue development of new features for Mseo and the sitemap.

But before I go I will be releasing a final release of MSEO around the weekend and nothing major will appear until mid June time. (as long as my problems with immigration get solved). I will be visiting the forums regularly to check for any issues arising and sort sitemap payments.

I have a few ideas for upcoming projects but I won’t say anymore for now, I just want MSEO to become a stable version for general public release. But what I can tell you is that there will be an update before the final version of 1.0.0 goes public to include .htaccess and robots.txt management within the admincp.

IPB3.x.x

Around the end of June I should have converted all my mods to IPB 3.x.x and everything should be working fluidly by then.
