Slowly cleaning up Mseo

For the past 2-4 days I have been cleaning up Mseo and fixing a lot of bugs.
I have also started to write a very detailed documentation of MinervaSEO which will be updated every time there is a new feature, or bug that arises. It can be found at http://icelabz.net/wiki/

I am planning on hopefully releasing a final release on Saturday.

The logs will be the following:

  • Improved documentation
  • Improved error handling
  • Addition of a few options for bots
  • Addition of canonical link in META
  • Title html entities fix
  • Meta tags fix
  • Redirect fix
  • Error 404 handling fix
  • New Feature

After that I will try to complete the conversion from IPB 2.x.x. to IPB 3.x.x. and it should  be ready next week or somet time later.

MinervaSEO 0.4.1 and 1.0.0 Beta 3

While browsing a few referal links through my mint stats application, I noticed that some people are running BOTH MSEO 0.4.1 and 1.0.0 Beta 3. Which is troubling me quite a lot that it makes me realise that I need to include an uninstaller for MSEO 0.4.1 asap WITHIN MSEO 1.0.0.

Even though I wrote in the instruction html file that you need to remove the old edits, it seems that a lot of people are finding it hard to read my documentation. :( Well…. I am partly to blame as I didn’t have enough time focusing on the documentation of the application.

First impression on converting MSEO (IPBSEO) to Invision Power Board 3

Moderately easy, I have been playing around with the sytem for around 3-4 hours today and I was pretty impressed with the application folder system. It is quite nifty and powerful. The installation system and development tools are a true helper while importing the settings.

So far I have been able to get the acronymiser and secure redirects working with only 2 file edits. This means good news and I could get a working version within the first or second week of June.

Update on MinervaSEO

For the past few weeks I have been able to completely re-write MSEO from scratch ontop of MinervaSEO lite.
I have decided in the end to re-implement the FURL system. But this time the FURL is not too strict and will allow .html&hl=…… additional queries.
This should in short term help in the FURL for IPB 2.x.x

I will be trying to get a complete and fully tested release in 2-3 weeks. But by the end of this week I should be getting some sort of daily script release on http://minervaseo.com for people to see and test it.

One feature that will not make it on MSL is the sitemap, I have decided to remove it completely and put it as a separate module for people to use. Read the rest of this entry »

An Overview of the skinning system of IPB 3.x.x

Hi all, in the view that IPB 3 is going to be released soon a few guides will be posted up on this blog to help new and advance users to understand the new structure and interface.

So for the first in the series I have created a quick overview of the skinning system of IPB 3.x.x. This should help new users to get familiar with the interface.
As this is my first full production screencast I would like some review on how to make it better.
